Our Story
Milpa Masa was born from a simple desire: to bring authentic, high-quality tortillas to Seattle. While most available options were made from rehydrated corn flour, we chose the traditional path of nixtamalization—soaking corn in an alkaline solution before stone-grinding it on volcanic stones.
Our focus on US heirloom corn varieties creates a unique bridge between ancient preparation methods and America's rich agricultural heritage. By partnering directly with organic farmers who preserve these precious varieties, we've created products that honor both environmental sustainability and cultural significance.
Each tortilla carries the story of rediscovery, respect, and the distinct flavors that only traditional processes can create.
